Frequently asked questions
What guests ask us most, answered plainly. If your question is not here, send it to us and we will answer it directly and add it to this page.
Who is this cruise for?
Anyone who wants to do the best they can for their own health. Most guests are already eating plant-based or are moving that way, but you do not need any prior experience. Come with questions.
Do I have to eat plant-based all week?
Every meal we serve is plant-based, in both cooked and fully raw form. The WFPB (whole food plant-based) meals are completely free of added salt, oil, and sugar (SOS-free). We strive for organic but can’t guarantee that for all items.
That said, all participants have full access to the ship’s own restaurants matching package level. So, nobody is locked into anything. You, or your roommate, can eat anything on the ship.
Can I drink alcohol on the cruise?
You can drink alcohol on the cruise if you so desire, but it is not served at our meals together in the dining room. We ask that you drink outside that environment in an effort not to trigger other participants who are trying to avoid alcohol. Thank you very much for your cooperation!
What if I have food allergies or other dietary needs?
Tell us when you book. The chefs prepare our meals from scratch, so soy-free, gluten-free, nut-free and low-sodium are all workable with notice. Write the detail into the contact form.
Is the raw menu separate from the cooked menu?
Both run side by side at every service, all day. Order from either, or take some of both.
Do I need to be fit to take part?
No. Movement sessions are optional and pitched for mixed ability, and the instructor offers a gentler or seated version of most things. Plenty of guests do the talks and skip the yoga.
Can I bring my family?
Yes. The program is aimed at adults, but the ship has a kids club for ages three to twelve, a teen lounge, pools and a games area. Families sail with us every year.
Is the ship accessible?
Celebrity Xcel has accessible staterooms, elevators to every deck, and step-free routes to the theatre, dining rooms and pool deck. Tell our travel agent what you need and she will book a room that works.
I am traveling on my own. Will that be awkward?
No. We seat the group together at every meal, and a good number of guests come solo. Ask about the roommate list if you would rather share a stateroom and split the cost.
How do I book?
Two steps. Pay the per-person event fee on Eventbrite, then book your stateroom through our travel agent, Liz Casanova. The second step is what ties your room to the private dining and programming.
What does the event fee cover?
The private dining room and meeting space, three plant-based meals a day, all presentations and workshops, group fitness classes, the zero-proof drink package, basic Wi-Fi, entertainment and port fees.
What is not included?
Airfare and transport to the terminal, trip insurance, and onboard gratuities other than drinks. Spa packages, premium Wi-Fi and shore excursions are available separately.
When do the ports get announced?
Itineraries are usually set about a year ahead. The 2027 route is published. Later years go up as soon as the sailing is confirmed.
Do the presentations get recorded?
Sessions run live in the room so guests can ask questions. We do not publish recordings, but presenters often share their slides and reading lists with the group afterwards.
What should I pack?
Warm-weather clothes, swimwear, walking shoes for the ports, and something smarter for the white tablecloth dinners. Yoga mats are provided for the deck sessions.
